RFK

 I read an excellent article from Dr Rubin this morning regarding the recent revisions to the CDC website. Just as Trump's attempts to rewrite history to fit ideology, RFK and Dr Oz are attempting to replace science with propaganda. It's just what maga Republicans do.

What matters: 

Covid was not a hoax. It killed a million Americans. I knew some of them. Half the people in the Nursing Home I'm in died from it. Deaths stopped after we were all vaccinated and practicing protective measures recommended by the Dr Fauci and the CDC.

If one chose to view Covid19 as a "biological attack" then America failed in it's response. A large number of Americans ignored sound medical measures, including vaccination, masking, social distancing, resulting in prolonging the Pandemic and deaths.
American leadership was aware early of the Covid virus in China and failed to act on that information for months. This and disinformation  enabled the spread of the virus and many deaths.

My takeaways:
Effective infection control involves Universal Precautions as a standard practice. Respiration is just as potentally infectious as blood, semen, saliva, or feces, just as hand washing, sanitizers, and gloves help protect against bloodborne pathogens. No reasonable person would perform or undergo an invasive procedure such as surgery without these measures in place.

Masking and Social Distancing are common sense means of reducing potential exposure to airborne pathogens and transmission. 

Vaccines are extraordinary means used to reduce illness and incidence of infection statistically. Polio, Measles, and Small Pox still exist; but the number of infected persons and deaths have been reduced because of vaccination practices. An effective public health system is an important aspect of national security.

Viruses evolve like other organisms. They are not eradicated. Only their significant occurence is statistically reduced.

Humans, like other organisms, only acquire "natural immunity" over generations through Natural Selection- ie, those with strong genetically adapted systems- or live in isolation- survive and reproduce; while those who dont die and do not reproduce.

No organism possesses inherent invincibility. It is entirely concievable that a pathogen could evolve which would cause such damage in a short period that it would be 100 percent fatal to any infected other organism...such as a human.

Vaccines help avoid the mass die off events. Polio, Measles, and Small Pox are historic examples of this. Indigenous Americans died in large numbers from Small Pox and never developed "natural immunity." Among European Americans Small Pox was addressed with crude vaccines of the era, and it's incidence reduced.

Conversely when vaccines arent used humans die from those very diseases and epidemics result-as in the current measles crisis...with ground zero appearing to be unvaccinated individuals in Texas.

Illness can spread and become epidemic. Epidemics can become pandemic; and pathogens are unphased by political demarcations or borders. 

Disinformation can be deadly.
