 This will scare you if you are in a Nursing Home or have a family member in one. In any state.

Trump’s Funding Freeze Wrecks Medicaid Portals in Every Single State

What does that mean to Nursing Home residents?

Most people in US nursing homes have their stay provided for by long term care Medicaid. Nursing homes stay in business because this is how they are funded. If Medicaid funding were cut off the nursing home would close, and its residents discharged.

So if you have a loved one in a nursing home you would recieve a call or letter telling you to come pick them up or make other arrangements.

I am a resident of a Texas nursing home. I read the news and then went to the Social Worker to ask about this. Her eyes were red- obviously had been crying or very stressed. She confirmed that this was true and added "everyone is frantic. They are cutting off everything". I asked "and then...?" And she looked up and said " I dont know. We dont know"

I used to work in this field. I have seen a nursing home suddenly close for financial reasons. Those things arent "supposed to happen" ... but they do.

Personally I dont know what Ill do either. I am steeling myself at the thoughts of making arrangements with a homeless shelter, or moving to the empty field next door so I can die there.

This is what Trump is doing to carve out money for tax cuts to billionaires-literally killing the most vulnerable to bloat the already obscenely rich.

DEI

Donald Trump has railed about DEI Programs; and yesterday claimed Biden and DEI were responsible for the horrific air collision that killed 64 people . But ironically it was Trump who, in 2019 created the FAA' s diversity program he. was railing against.    More relevant, he fired the head of the FAA and others on 1/21/25 .  Then, without investigation or evidence, blames Obama, Biden, and DEI programs for the crash. Nor is this the first time Trump or Republicans like Ted Cruz or Greg Abbot have politicized tragedy or outright lied. Famously Trump, Abbot, and Cruz stirred anti immigrant hatred with lies about a border agent who was killed after running his car into a culvert- claiming illegal immigrants had "crushed his skull with rocks". I have read lots of slurs about "DEI"  students, workers, etc. It seems "DEI" is the current euphemism for hiring women and non white men for jobs or admissions to colleges.
