The unchristian church
An awake person penned:
"The persistent 30-40% of Americans: were Monarchist, spied & fought for the English King 1776, were rebel Confederates in 1861, were Jim Crow cross-burning segregationists & card-carrying Klansmen into 1925, were Nazi sympathizer propagandists' & spies, 1939, & racist Dixiecrat/Republicans today."
Absolutely true. The same ideological crowd that gave us witch burning,
trials and hanging for heresy, indigenous genocide, slavery are the
handmaids of this bunch :American Exceptionalism is based on Christian
Nationalism.
Religion has been used to convince the poor and ignorant to do the bidding of
the oligarchs. It is one of the tools this crowd uses to maintain power.
In its basic use a preacher/priest tells his congregation God will
punish them if they dont do such as such, while stoking hate for "the
other" and encouraging a sense of superiority. They refer to the other as evil, demonic, Satanic, ungodly, etc
I remember hearing in 2008: "it is mortal sin to vote for Obama or Democrats" -
ie Gods gonna send you to hell if you dont vote Republican...
(I stopped attending church when religion became about culture wars and Republican politics.)
Thats why Reagan sought an accord with Southern Evangelicals in 1978. The support of Southern Evangelicals and "religious conservatives" are what gave him the nomination and Presidency. They are what gave Trump the edge in elections...and hate filled sermons helped...and continue to support his racist acts. This for recent example.
We are currently being held hostage by this same 30 percent minority. The issues that bind them together are hatreds of immigrants, homosexuals, non Christians, Christians who dont see the Gospels in the same light as they, " liberals" etc. Basically anyone who isnt like themselves in every sociocultural and racial respect.
Their hate list as well as their American Exceptionalism is identical to the thinking of the Ku Klux Klan.
We need to recognize the reality that a third of America is diseased, misled, and their misrepresentation of Christianity is harmful to the very notion of religion as well as to this nation.
